Your like..so like..embarassing...

So embarassing...

Taylor has been begging us for some more of her own independence lately...Chris and I are what most would call paranoid parents and we tend to hold on to our kids a little too tight sometimes. We are both very cautious about what kind of activities we let them do and what friends they play with, maybe because we don't know their parents. We are very protective of them and sometimes they let us know that we are being too protective. Taylor has been begging us to let her ride her bike to soccer practice for awhile now. They just started practicing by RC Willey which is only a few blocks from our house. We have been reluctant until now. Tonight she rode her bike all by herself, or so she thought. Chris followed her after a minute just to make sure she made it. When he past her she saw him but didn't acknowledge him and when he turned around to come home he waved...she didn't! We thought it was so funny that she wouldn't even wave at him...I guess he was too protective or embarassing or something!

They do gain their independence too quickly, don't they?

I think in this day of age, we all need to be very protective! Don't worry, when she is all "grown up", she will thank you.... I'm sure it is going to just get better!

It is amazing just how early they learn that their parents are embarrassing! I remember my twins not wanting to be seen with me when they were in preschool! Did I say preschool? I must be really embarrassing!

It is our job to be totally embarassing, it is in the parent handbook! We don't want them to grow up and have no stories to tell now do we? Heather Friatn
